Wessex rifles are hosting a guest day at Bisley next Saturday, 12th Sept. We have 500yds booked and plan to replicate the Fly shoot. Targets will be similar to the Aussie "Fly" target so scores will be on a regular round target with a bonus for group sizes. A friendly comp with a pat on the back for anyone that hits the fly :-) Here's a link to the Diggle fly shoot to give you an idea of what to expect www.diggleranges.com/index.php/diggle-annual-fly-shootNRA members can just turn up, though we would like to know numbers so let us know by midweek. Anyone with a safe shooter cert is welcome but we need your name and address by Tuesday night. Others, I am not sure. No doubt Rich will be along shortly with more info. Promises to be entertaining, I reckon there will be many more to come so turn up and be a part of the first one :-)

If I can find somewhere to do full size copies, I have a blank target (not from missing I must add)

That was fun! Pete got himself a fly at last. Not a real one, but shows he can do it :-P

The scores gents:
1 Pete: 103 - Small group - fly 2 Rup: 102 - fly 3 Glen: 88 - fly 4 Beau: 39 5 Me: 27 - fly 5 Brian B: 27
I am missing Pete and the other Brian's scores so don't know what they got.
Not bad though 4 flys out of 9 shooters.

Rich, out of interest, could you measure my group, as that's an untested, non developed load, but looks pretty reasonable:)

If one of us had thought to take a measure, we could have scored the group sizes too. Shooting at a fly certainly raises your game! Hope it didn't put too many off, though it may be the reason for poor attendance, only had 9 shooting! Hope to get more at the next one. Pete, was that with the Amax's or the bergers? That last group of 5 that I sent down range was with the 140 bergers, they were all over the place. Going to have to do some serious load development to get them on song, unlike the 123smk which my rifle seems to shoot well whatever load I use. I can feel the need for a load development day coming on.......... :-)

You gotta love load development Rup!! ....Ive always found SMK's very un-fussy!..and easy to find the sweet spot!
By the way....was the fly smaller then the Diggle one??

Yes the SMK is very forgiving but I don't get much consistency from them beyond 1200 yds hence the need to get the bergers working. Tiff, it's all your fault :-)
The fly we used is exactly the same as the Diggle Fly. The difference is that Diggle has no wind flags and a big chunk of steep penine landscape to guess the wind over !!!

That's luck old boy! You need to take an average of all 3 groups if you are reckoning you found the "masterload". ;-D
