Following the grant of my FAC and some kind help/advice from Glenn I picked up a .308 remington 700 PSS b/a with magazine conversion and a Leupold VX-III 8.5-25x50 scope on top. The barrel has been re-cut to fit an old PES mod but this will be upgraded to a T8. Doesn't look to have done too much and seems pretty well set up for long range (might be a rifle known on here???) but I'm really looking forward to running some rounds through it. The Ruger 10/22 was purchased a few days later with a view to being used at the local range and, when permission allows, persuading some rabbits into the bag. Looking to grab a scope and red dot sight to complete this rig.

The 700 would be ideal fro the RBL Match.

Really enjoying the .22, I know 10/22s are not the fussiest of guns with ammo but have found that Eley Sport is the most accurate. Managed to shoot a 94/100 at 50 yards from a bench with a red dot sight. Slowly trying to get rabbiting permission on a friend of a friend's land so fingers crossed. The .308 has yet to be fired!!!! My FAC is target only in this country (so frustrating) so I booked myself on two club visits to MOD ranges, the first fell through and I'm now working on the second date. I have a selection of ammo to test, have a mod on order that should arrive this week and have bore sighted it at 100 yards... but it looks like June will be the first opportunity to fire it.

Can't you book some stalking so you can get some more use, and get some Boar on your ticket while your at it.

Whereabouts are you? If the 308 is only conditioned for target, I suggest you come along to the Bisley shoot that Rich has organised toward the end of this month. There will be a good mix of shooters and the opportunity to zero and shoot 3 different ranges during the day.

Can't you book some stalking so you can get some more use, and get some Boar on your ticket while your at it. I had 16 examples of paid stalking in the last 2 years when I submitted my FAC application as I wanted to be able to use my own rifle with a professional stalker. The idea was to let the FAO know when I had stalking booked and he could check it was on the level etc but the FAO wasn't having it. Only got FMJs on the licence too. My FAC is target only in this country and hunting abroad so, with a different scope, this will be coming to Croatia along with the 12g

That's just stupidity your FEO needs educating, you have been stalking that many times and they are wanting more. You need to tell them that the use of fmj on live quarry doesn't match any of there guide lines, or any body else's for that matter.. Mind you I had similar restrictions when I put a variation in for a 9.3x62, max 20 rounds of none expanding I told her if she would like a charging Boar that had just had a hole drilled in it coming straight towards her, I actually didn't bother in the end due to cost implications j will just stick with my cheap 30.06 and bought a 260 instead.

I think most people have had that reaction, I can (sort of) understand the FAO's position and wanting to limit the rifle use as I didn't have land to sign the rifle off to. The fact that I only have FMJs on my ticket means that I can't even zero the rifle to expanding ammunition for use abroad! After a period of holding my FAC and, if all goes well, I should have some land to assign the rifle to and do my DSC1, I'll give them a nudge to see if they allow me stalking and expanding ammunition. I'm not in a huge rush but its a little frustrating having to get used to a completely different rifle/ammo/scope every time I go stalking.
