Having got my hands on some ELD-Match bullets I can confirm that they are not interchangeable with the A-Max. I tried some of the ELDs on to of my normal A-Max load and they didn't shoot well, so back to the drawing board. I'll have to do some load development again. Not happy! That said, the ELDs do have a higher BC which is good, and from those I've loaded up so far, they appear to be a much better quality bullet then the old A-Max. More consistent, and they feel better when being seated etc. So, they should be better in theory. That said, I still have some questions on them. This is predominantly aimed at Tisme but if anyone else has experience with them, then feel free to chip in: - Has anyone shot them at long range ie subsonic ranges and do they transition well?
- There is a rumour that there are two batches of ELDs an early one with a translucent tip and a later one with an opaque tip. Does anyone know if this is true?

Hi Rich I got my 7-08 out to 1644 yards with the ELDs last week so yes they go through the transonic zone as good as the A max. There is a new ELD out that does not have a translucent tip (its red again due to copyright) that the newer BCs stack up to.You might want to hold back on load testing until we get them as the shape if different again unless you already have them.

Where did you find that out from? I've only heard rumours about it. I can't find anything anywhere about it online. I'm starting to get a bit P155ed off with hornady. I'm considering trying the bergers instead.

Not a rumour m.hornady.com/support/faqs/heat-shield-technologyThey have also changed shape and bc. Some of the shooters in the states are saying they have bought box's with both in as well For long range I'd find the ELDS are easier to see splash from, the Bergers seem to dissappear into whatever you shoot.

Doh, I looked everywhere for that on other forums and their tech sheets. I even emailed and just got some pre-prepared rubbish that didn't answer the question. Is the tip change a re-design though or actually just a tip change this time. I know the BC is higher than that of the equivalent A-Max, but I can't see anything in that, or anywhere else, that suggests they are changing anything other than the tip colour this time.

As far as I can gather (form US forums so could be bollocks) the tip colour change is the last thing they have done, before that the changed the bullet shape and BC, but I'm not sure what we bought as on the box my BC was lower than the new one. Some of the yanks got both types in a box or two! Give them a year and it will be sorted
