Glenn I'm a fan of the 700s admittedly mines been blueprinted, barrelled and a jewel trigger but its a fine rifle. Bushpig is shooting a 700 with factory ammo and shooting one hole groups with it as standard! I also have a t3 which is also a very accurate rifle from the box so can't knock them either, they have the smoothest bolt on any rifle I've used, but I'd never part with the 700 ;-)

Rips..yep the 700 has a massive following, and I know loads of guys that use them to good effect.
I brought one about 15 years ago a BDL in .243...it was a dog..got shot of it and bought my first Sako..never looked back since.

Glad to hear i'm not th eonly one useing a 700, I know that thye have fallen out of favour in the last few years but I'm not sure why. Rips I hear about blueprinting a fair bit but dont actually know what it is? I will agree that the T3 has a great bolt but that doesnt improve the shooting and the std 700 trigger is heavy but does break well. mine is breaking at 2lb 10oz so after new scope thats next.
Cheers,
Ben.

Ben
Not sure what scope you have in mind or what budget you have?..take a look at the Vortex viper PST range..I have the 6-24x50 EBR-1 MOA on my Sako.
Fantastic glass, tracks spot on! CRS zero-stop turrets..bomb proof build..lifetime warranty.
Tiff on here who runs the RRC..can hook you up.
Glenn.

Hi Glenn, I will have at look at them but I am more or less set on the sightron S-TAC. Had a list in my head of what I wanted in a scope and when the s-tac was launched it ticked every single box on the list.
Cheers,
Ben.

Cheers, Ben. Blue printing mate basically means they take the action and true up the surfaces/ tolerances so that everything is that little bit more exact than when it left the factory. I think that the mass production of the 700s in various forms has allowed the quality to slip in some models and I guess there will be good and bad examples of any mass produced factory rifle. I've also had a sako 75 and that too was a very nice rifle. The jewel trigger I've got on the 700 breaks at 1.5 lb, - very crisp! The t3 I have shoots very well but I wish I'd gone for the hunter rather than the lite, the plastic stock feels a bit cheap and crap, I reckon I'd prefer the extra weight when shooting with the wood stocked hunter.
