I am IN.
My son Luke & I have just got back from another fantastic RRC.
What can I say?........this must be the best rifle challenge in the UK .......great CoF which is both challenging (very!) and incredibly varied.
Tiff is a spot-on organiser and an absolute GENT with enormous patience and an appetite to please.
The terrain is truly perfect for this sort of challenge and the main day went out to just under 1000 yards with an extended long-range session today for those that could stay.
I will forget the many misses that I made but not the double first-shot kills that Luke and I made on the 950 yard balloon targets!....Not going to brag quite so much about the rest of my performance!
This facility (and Tiff and his family and helpers especially) deserves much more widespread support ...use it or lose it as they say.
I would like to extend my huge personal thanks to Tiff and co for a brilliant day....roll on the next one!
PS...Also the shooters are a great group of guys......competitive in the best way and always ready to help out each other....good to know you all.

As Dave, just got home, I stayed for the longer stuff, nice to see Rich's 7mm08 reaching out consistently to 1350yds. Glen doing similair distances with his newly barrelled 243.
Great weekend, great venue, great bunch of friends to catch up with/banter with and most importantly, shoot with.
Many thanks to Tiff for still running the event at a loss, we all very much appreciate it.
Now, the serious part,
People, please please please, dip into your wallets, pay a deposit to tiff, and with luck, and commitment from you guys, I'm sure there will be more, but without enough people actually getting off their arses, and making it down there for a fabulous weekend, and committing to it, there will be no more. This forum provided 99% of the field, let's keep it up lads
Tiff. Thank you ever so much for another absolutely fantastic weekend. See you soon, I hope.......

I was originally going to PM this to Tiff but thought that I would post it openly for comment (constructive)!...Hope you don't mind my presumption Tiff.
Its likely that Tiff has already considered the option and there may be reasons why it is not viable but here goes food for thought....
1. The shoot is under-attended (fact)...reasons may be shooter apathy, lack of cash or just plain bloody laziness but Tiff can't be subsidising comps for long even if he was willing to do so!.....Nothing you don't already know.
2. Some shooters MAY be unable to attend because they don't have, cannot get, or don't want field conditions on their FAC.... and they are probably out there in greater numbers than those of us who have open-certs or field conditions which allow us to shoot 'off-range'
3. It looks like the RRC is in danger of withering on the vine from lack of numbers if we cannot open up the potential audience of attendees.
4 SO....is there any mileage in discussing with Tiff (and by extension the Landowner via Tiff) the potential to formalise the RRC terrain as a formal range? I have little or no idea what the process is but SURELY the land itself would be deemed very safe and eligible for range designation?
Tiff has already made a very significant investment in targetry which needs maintenance and if range insurance was an issue (guess it must be?) then if we forum members that attend the RRC formed the kernel of a Home Office Club with modest subs then I presume that we could raise the finance needed?
My understanding with regard to setting up an HO Approved club is that you only need something like 6 - 10 members so that should be no obstacle.....I think that the bureaucracy is minimal.
The Landowner might not be willing to get involved and Tiff may not have the time to liaise with him or wish to 'Chair' such a club but I think it must be worthwhile to consider options to get more 'Bods' on the RRC and remove current FAC conditional obstacles in some way?
Thoughts?....If this idea is still-born then we need to come up with alternatives or I foresee this brilliant shoot fading away.....not fair on Tiff and well up my 'Tragedy-Scale' !!!

I agree entirely with everything you say. However as far as I am aware it isn't possible to get it passed as a range. The Orion facility (sweet lamb complex, formally WMS) have as far as I know already pursued that idea and you still have to be conditioned for land to shoot there.
In theory as long as you have adequate insurance you can declare your land to be a range, but those willing to provide the insurance are not only expensive but usually insist on it being affiliated with the NRA. I don't know of any that don't but I would imagine they would be reluctant to recognise anything but a traditional range.
More than happy to be wrong, it would be a very big step in the right direction if it could be passed as a range.
