Well after a tortuous drive..42mins I arrived at Bisley(my first time).....had a nice little fry up with Tisme & gooner to get me started. Met up with the guys from Wessex rifle club, great bunch of fellas!.. and some old faces from the RRC shoot a couple of weeks earlier...Good natured banter was rife from the off!!
On to century range for the days comp...Looking around I was beginning to wish I had brought my Sako with me and not the AR15....as there was some fantastic looking rigs being pulled from there case's!! ...so glad I didn't as the little .223 spiting out 69gn smk's preformed like a star!....No V-bulls but plenty of 5's and 4's...was well chuffed!...
I take my hat off to the top five guys..it was great to watch them hitting V-bulls for fun!
After a spot of lunch at Jennys (double cheeseburger) we headed over to the stickeldown 1000yrd range. I was'nt planning on shooting, just thought I would do some spotting for the guys but the little AR had done so well in the morning I thought what the hell!...yep shot 1000yrds with it!..on the black within 4 shots.two shots being very close to V-bull .Thanks Stu & John for spotting me!..drop chart was a little out 46.5 MOA...but was 52MOA at 1000.
Well done to Rup and the guys of Wessex rifles for a great day and making me feel at home!
Bring on the next one!
Glenn.
My upmost respect to Mike & Stu for driving all the way from Staffordshire...Are you home yet?

Yep. Great day. And I sussed out why I shot like s**t in the afternoon. Loose scope rail. That'll be why it was getting progressively worse. Don't worry, I'm sure there will be more, I'll let you know the next time we get up to bisley if you want to come again. As for mouse guns, the 3rd (official) spot went to a .222 don't forget (has that been mentioned yet?) who needs big calibers ?

Score sheet. Shows points/V-BULLS Stuart Gilbert and Rich Hattersley both had excessive rifle weight so don't count. Attachments:

Yeah, it was ok to start with, but went downhill, and never got better. That'll learn me for 'slapping on' the rail at midnight last night :/ couldn't find the loctite. Found it now, right where it always is :/ The clue to the loose rail was a screw falling out when I swapped the scope back to the '42 (Must buy another scope) Mike (Milicer) what MTC do/did you have on the 'fifty' ?

Glad you all enjoyed it. Thought it ran fairly well, markers were good until we wore them out! Great shooting too btw. Will do another soon. I'm off to Bude on Surfing/fishing holiday first thing in morning so might not get pics posted until I can get back to the laptop. Rup
