I've been looking at the Hornady concentricty gauge and would like to know if correcting run out is beneficial and if it alters neck tension

Hi tisme, I have one and use it to correct run out in my .260 loads....I also use it to group factory ammo according to run out. I don't know about altering neck tension but it certainly improves my groups and helps to eliminate those pesky fliers.

Get a decent seater and your run out wont be worth measuring. I use a Redding competition Seating Die for a 22.250 and run out is 0.0015 at the most, I have a Forster Comp die for 260 and its not as good as the redding but good enough.

Cheers for the replies. I already use redding and foster dies so it might be a waste of money although there is a kit to use it to measure neck case thickness as well so........

Just another thing that's not been mentioned. Are the case necks concentric You will see a difference between your measurements of virgin brass and once fired in your rifle.. How far off absolute perfection do you need to be really.

If the Hornady uses some sort of side pressure to 'True' (IE bend) nominally off-centre rounds then I would not want to use it full-stop!
Surely the answer is to go back to your brass & tools to find out why its not concentric in the first place rather than using a 'hammer' to make it so?
