What's the issue PC ? Or are you in one of those nanny states/counties that won't allow c/fire on vermin ? Shall I bring the 338 up to show them that it works just nicely ? Lol Regards Pete www.varmintinguk.co.uk

That's pretty much it Pete they don't like anything over 22 cf for vermin/fox here unless your after deer too.got rifle conditioned for both through the help of another member but with him on his land but it got my foot in the door so i can live with that when i renew.next year hoping to get it back open ticket, then jobs a good un

Ahh. Yes, it can be a struggle sometimes. But at the end of the day, a safe shot is just that. The only way the 338 is 'less safe' is purely due to having to keep an eye on more land as you shoot further than with a 223 etc (or should be if you don't have an endless supply of money for ammo). I'm 'open' and 'aolq' on all of mine thankfully Regards Pete www.varmintinguk.co.uk

According to my feo the powers above are pushing to put the 'all lawful quarry' addition on all newly processed tickets to save a lot of written this and that's. suits me just fine! I pushed my feo to make sure it went on mine, told him on the open ground I shoot getting near corvids was a problem and I often had opportunities at them whilst foxing at dawn and he had no problem with that and it would have gone on there anyway when it went in for a variation.

I'm Wiltshire, so I had 'aolq' about seven tickets ago, so, about 18 months now I guess. There's no reason not to put aolq there really, if you have good reason, then it should be up to you to decide if the caliber in use is humane or not. And that's the point, it should be humane, 'overkill' isn't a word that should ever enter into the thought process from a Licencing point of view, as long as it's a legal and humane shot, it not for them to decide upon meat damage or cost. If I want bunnies for the pot, I'll use a .22 (ok, .222 with subsonic load), if I need to shoot them 1200 yds away, I can use the 338, as long as I accept there is only crow bait left over, but, the choice is in my hands, exactly where it should be. When I converted my 308 too deer and target I pointed out I would be shooting Goats now that really got them! Goats come under vermin but need a BIG GUN !! They can't argue with goats. There's no DSC1 just an intension too shoot them.

It seems that some forces are trying their hardest to push against the AOLQ but some are fine with it. I have AOLQ on my .22, .223 and .243 and they didnt even ask why I wanted it but that is west mercia (as was)it always baffles me as to the different conditions as the home office regs are the same for everywhere and they allow individuals to add there own.
ah well thats what it is?
Ben.

very nice,
i had a left handed rifle (coz it was cheap) in 308 a few years back and it shot like a dream, so much so it shot out the door when i had it up for sale, i do miss shooting left handed with a proper left handed rifle,
