I agree entirely with everything you say. However as far as I am aware it isn't possible to get it passed as a range. The Orion facility (sweet lamb complex, formally WMS) have as far as I know already pursued that idea and you still have to be conditioned for land to shoot there. In theory as long as you have adequate insurance you can declare your land to be a range, but those willing to provide the insurance are not only expensive but usually insist on it being affiliated with the NRA. I don't know of any that don't but I would imagine they would be reluctant to recognise anything but a traditional range. More than happy to be wrong, it would be a very big step in the right direction if it could be passed as a range. Rich
Any idea what 'expensive' amounts to in real money re the insurance issue?
If we did a pukka Risk Assessment , provided RCOs, were able to cover the insurance (if its not too stupidly expensive) , did some sort of survey of the range danger area envelope etc etc...then why would the NRA not play ball?..they do claim to be readying themselves to take more interest in the regions vs just Bisley so we could pull their tails to see if we get a response?

As far as I know they still won't allow steels on their own ranges (the CSR club has been trying to get them passed) so I wouldn't think they would play ball on another range.
I have no idea what the insurance would be but certainly in the £100's. Rup has looked into this a bit more I think.
