I have a spreadsheet somewhere from when I first started loading .308 many years ago, it calculated in pounds sterling and took into account using the brass 5 or 10 times. I should dig it out to see how much prices have changed over the years, primers seem to be the biggest increase almost doubling over the last 12 months and I was staggered to see Varget going for £50/lb recently, it is not so long since it was £24/lb and even the last lot was just over £30/lb.
I know the importers blame shipping charges and USA price increases however I cannot believe they are as hard done by as they say. Brian Fox was my go to place for Berger bullets and then he had to start buying from Hannams, he told me he was paying more for them trade than he used to sell them for!

I agree with you prices have only gone up as supply has gone done.

It could be that supplies have been reduced by certain UK wholesalers and prices increased to maintain a similar operating result.

I've decided I'm going to give up with Varget and development will start tomorrow with N140. Might be a load of Varget for sale soon

TR140 makes a reasonable substitute for Varget in some case as well despite being slightly slower.
EDIT - Thinking about it TR140 is a fine example, it came in as TR140, at around £50-55 then the Reload Swiss range of powders was announced and released and TR140 was part of it at £57 now it is being sold at £74.
Go figure.

I was going to use TR140 but I've been told it's now going to come in to the UK as Swiss powder and the price will be going up. I have a good supply of Vit powders so going with that for now. Thanks for the thought though.

I have always suspected powder choices are a regional thing based on availability, at one point all of the members of our club from Cambridgeshire were using Varget and we were all using N140, many good natured discussions ensued as to the best choice until one of the Cambs chaps admitted he had never used Viht powders as nobody local stocked it.
